Upgrading or Downgrading Your Plan

Last updated: May 17, 2026

You can change your subscription plan at any time from your account settings. RailScanPro uses prorated billing, so you only pay for what you use.

How to Change Your Plan

  1. Sign in and go to Settings → Subscription
  2. Click Change Plan
  3. Select the plan you want to switch to
  4. Review the prorated charge or credit shown on the confirmation screen
  5. Click Confirm Change

Plan Comparison

Plan Users Items Price
Free (Starter) 1 100 $0/month
Hobbyist 1 Unlimited $19/month
Family 5 Unlimited $29/month
Pro 10 Unlimited $49/month
Club 50 Unlimited $129/month
Museum Unlimited Unlimited $349/month

All paid plans include the full feature set. Plans differ only in the number of users (seats) and item limits.

Upgrading

When you upgrade mid-cycle, you're charged a prorated amount for the remainder of your current billing period. For example, if you're halfway through the month and upgrade from Hobbyist ($19) to Pro ($49), you'll be charged approximately $15 (half the $30 difference).

The new plan's features and seat count are available immediately.

Downgrading

Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep your current plan's features until then.

Before downgrading, check whether you'll exceed the new plan's limits:

  • Item limit — if you have 200 items and downgrade to Free (100 item limit), existing items are preserved in read-only mode until you're back under the limit. You won't lose data, but you can't add new items until you delete or archive enough to get under the cap.
  • User seats — if you have more users than the new plan allows, existing users stay active until renewal. After renewal, you'll be prompted to remove users or upgrade again.

Annual vs. Monthly Billing

Annual billing saves approximately 20% compared to monthly. You can switch between billing cycles at renewal time. Contact support if you want to switch mid-cycle — we'll prorate the difference.
